IDSCU - Integrated Decision Support Consumptive Use Model

New: support for CDSS Hydrobase should now be working. Choose "Use SQL Hydrobase" from the "Model Options" menu.

Together with water managers in the South Platte River Basin, the State of Colorado, and the United States Bureau of Reclamation, the IDS Group is developing an efficient model for computing field and farm consumptive use (CU).

The CU Model is a windows 95/98/NT interface with monthly and daily ET estimation methods, a soil moisture budget, water supply components, and the ability to query information stored in HYDROBASE (maintained by the State of Colorado).

The IDSCU model can compute monthly CU using the Blaney-Criddle, calibrated Blaney Criddle, Pochop, or Hargreaves methods. The daily Kimberly-Penman, Penman-Monteith, and ASCE techniques are also available. The IDSCU Model applies crop coefficients to determine the water use of various crops during the growing season based on the available water supply and weather data.

IDSCU can access weather and surface supply data from Colorado's HYDROBASE in addition to data available on the web from NCWCD and CoAgMet. The model can be used throughout Colorado, but as the model is designed to be data dependent, it can be used anywhere. AWAS and SDF View can be run directly from the IDSCU Model to determine CU impacts to the South Platte River.

IDSCU now ships with an example file called "example.cmn" in the examples subdirectory where you installed the interface (typically "C:\Program Files\IDSCUModel\examples"). This dataset contains daily and monthly weather data for several Northern Colorado Water Conservancy District weather stations and a few CoAgMet ones. Alfalfa reference crop coefficients and Blaney-Criddle coefficients for many crops are also provided.

Please send any bug reports to Dave Patterson.
